Accelerate your success with in-depth research and smarter decisions
Agile is now becoming mainstream and is changing the economics of software, but only the best teams are finding these significant quality implications. What patterns are being revealed, and what does this mean to teams responsible for that final testing lap?
In XBOSoft’s third-quarter webinar, When Agile is a Quality Game Changer: Predictive Forecasting of Defect Profiles, QSM Associates’ Michael Mah walks us through QSM Associates industry research that reveals patterns in the varying degrees of success organizations have found. Using the latest industry analyses of velocity, burndown, and quality data, Michael addresses defect prediction, productivity, time-to-market, quality, and cost patterns as the software community matures. The QSM SLIM industry database, with more than 12,000 completed Waterfall, Agile, offshore, and onshore projects collected worldwide, serves as a comparison framework.
Michael Mah teaches, writes, and consults to technology companies on estimating and managing software projects, whether in-house, offshore, waterfall, or agile. He is the managing partner at QSM Associates Inc. and director of the Benchmarking Practice at the Cutter Consortium, a US-based IT think-tank. With over 25 years of experience, Michael and his partners at QSM have derived productivity and quality patterns for thousands of projects collected worldwide. His work examines time-pressure dynamics of teams, and its role in project success and failure. His degree from Tufts University is in physics and electrical engineering, and he is a mediator specializing in conflict resolution for technology projects, having completed his certification from the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School. Michael is also a private pilot and lives in the mountains of Western Massachusetts. His non-profit work is with Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. He can be reached at www.qsma.com.
QSM Associates provides tools for software project development. Their SLIM project database, the largest in the world, is proven to remove guesswork from benchmarking and project estimation before, during, and after project completion.
