We’re pleased to announce that our scholarship committee has selected the winners for our 2021 college scholarship contest! There were many impressive applicants, but the committee has recognized these three as standouts due to their excellence in academics, community support and ability to overcome obstacles in pursuit of their goals. As the overall winner, Sam Heim will receive $1000, while Martina Miranda and Alyssa Powel will each receive $250 as runner-up to put toward their education.

Sam is in Wichita State University (WSU), studying Aerospace Engineering. Moving from Illinois, he is currently pursuing his passion for aerospace, aviation, and engineering in Kansas. His love for STEM stems from the building, designing, programming, and piloting of racing drones. In addition, his entrepreneurial mindset has led him to raise money for multiple philanthropic endeavors. He has also had the opportunity to work for Textron Aviation, where he continues developing his predictive maintenance skills. We are pleased to support him in the realization of his dreams.

He says The XBOSoft Scholarship will enable me to pursue my passion for Aerospace Engineering and Flight at Wichita State University. I strive to conduct meaningful work. I accomplish this through my work at Textron Aviation with predictive modeling utilizing machine learning to leave a lasting impact on the industry. I’m thrilled to say I’ve just finished ground school and will start flying for my private pilot’s license this winter. This scholarship will allow me to make that dream a reality and I couldn’t be more grateful”.

Martina is currently a senior at Grand Canyon University. In her own words, “Once I have received my Ph.D., I will pursue postdoctoral research with CRISPR and bioinformatics for tumor reversion. Working in the field of genetics and standing on the shoulders of giants would be an honor; sharing groundbreaking work with the world would be the reward of seeing a little bit farther.” In addition, her interest in diverse topics such as poetry and literary fiction will help her creativity in facing various challenges.

Martina says “I would like to thank XBOSoft for helping me be at ease for my last two semesters of college. Because of them, I have the opportunity to apply for graduate programs in my desired field of study and assist others in furthering their STEM education.”

Alyssa

Alyssa currently studies stem cell biology and regenerative medicine at the university of southern California and has a strong personal motivation for excelling in the field. In addition, she wants to contribute to the discovery of earlier diagnostic tools for brain tumors. Alyssa, you have the dedication and drive to be successful.

In her own words  “The XBOSoft STEM Scholarship will help me achieve my dreams of becoming a Clinical and Translational Researcher as I continue my education at USC. I am very grateful for this scholarship opportunity that will help me in graduate school” .

 

During the course of this contest, the committee came across many highly qualified and aspiring applicants.  We at XBOSoft thank you for the time and effort you took to apply.
