Like Talk Privacy Policy

Like Talk is a Chrome extension that helps users turn rough notes into clearer task briefs, task reports, suggestions, issue reports, and free-form conversation prompts.
Like Talk processes user-entered text inside the extension and stores recent work locally in the user’s Chrome browser profile. Like Talk does not require an account and does not automatically send user-entered text to XBOSoft, an AI provider, or any other third party.
For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR, the data controller for information handled through Like Talk is:

If Like Talk is offered to users located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom and XBOSoft is not otherwise established there, XBOSoft will identify a representative under Article 27 GDPR / UK GDPR here: Not applicable. XBOSoft’s processing of EEA and UK user data through Like Talk is occasional, does not involve special category data at scale, and is unlikely to result in a risk to individuals’ rights given that data is processed locally on the user’s device and is not transmitted to XBOSoft except for optional, general feedback. XBOSoft therefore relies on the exemption in Article 27(2) GDPR and the equivalent UK GDPR provision.

Like Talk uses chrome.storage.local to save recent inputs, generated results, and interface preferences in the user’s local Chrome browser profile.
The stored information remains on the user’s device and is not automatically transmitted to XBOSoft or another party. It is retained until the user clears it in the extension, removes the extension’s data in Chrome, or uninstalls the extension.
Like Talk includes optional links to the XBOSoft website and a Google Forms product survey. These links open only after the user clicks them.
Like Talk does not automatically include or transmit the user’s conversation drafts when opening these links. Information voluntarily submitted through the Google Forms survey is processed by Google and the survey owner according to the disclosures shown on that form and Google’s applicable privacy terms.
When a user submits the feedback survey, XBOSoft receives and reviews the responses to understand product feedback and improve Like Talk. The survey is limited to general product feedback and does not ask for names, contact details, or other identifying information. For that purpose, XBOSoft and Google act as joint controllers of the survey responses: Google controls the survey platform itself, including hosting, security, and any data Google separately collects as the form provider, as described in Google’s Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy); XBOSoft controls what it does with the substantive feedback content once received. Submitted information may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries where Google operates, under the safeguards Google describes in its own privacy and data transfer disclosures.
Users should not submit passwords, API keys, confidential company information, or other sensitive information through the survey.
Like Talk does not sell or share user data.
Like Talk does not use user data for personalized advertising, retargeting, or profiling.
Like Talk does not allow XBOSoft employees or other people to read locally stored conversation content.
If you are located in the EEA or the UK, you have the following rights over the information Like Talk handles, to the extent XBOSoft acts as controller.
Most of the information Like Talk handles is stored only on your own device and is never received by XBOSoft, so you can exercise access, rectification, erasure, restriction, and portability over that information directly and immediately by using the extension’s own controls or by clearing its local data. The rights below apply in full to any information XBOSoft does receive as controller, such as correspondence you send to XBOSoft directly.
To exercise any of these rights, contact XBOSoft using the details in the Contact section below. Before responding to a request, XBOSoft may ask you to provide reasonable proof of identity to ensure information is not disclosed to the wrong person.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO); in the EEA, the data protection authority in your country of residence, work location, or the location of the alleged infringement.
If you are a California resident, applicable law gives you the following rights regarding personal information:
In the 12 months before the date at the top of this policy, XBOSoft did not sell or share personal information and did not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes other than those permitted under the CCPA/CPRA. The categories of personal information Like Talk may handle are limited to identifiers and user-generated content that a user chooses to type into the extension, as described in “Information Like Talk Handles” above; none of it leaves the user’s device except when the user voluntarily submits the optional survey.
To exercise a California privacy right, contact XBOSoft using the details in the Contact section below. XBOSoft may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.
If XBOSoft denies your request, you have the right to appeal that decision. To appeal, contact XBOSoft using the details in the Contact section below and reference the original request. XBOSoft will respond to your appeal in writing within 60 days, consistent with California law.
Like Talk’s core features do not transfer personal data anywhere, because all processing and storage happen locally on the user’s device. The only circumstance in which data leaves the device is if a user chooses to submit the optional Google Forms survey, at which point the transfer is governed by Google’s own cross-border transfer safeguards, described in Google’s Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
Like Talk does not execute remotely hosted code.
The current version does not send user-entered conversation text to an AI provider or an XBOSoft server. It does not track browsing history, inspect website content, collect location data, or monitor user activity. Network activity occurs only when a user explicitly opens an external website or feedback survey.
Like Talk uses user-entered information only to provide its disclosed communication-preparation features. Like Talk does not access Google APIs. If a future version receives information from Google APIs, its use of that information will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Like Talk is not directed to children under 16, and XBOSoft does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because Like Talk only stores information locally that a user actively chooses to type, XBOSoft has no visibility into who is using the extension; a parent or guardian who believes a child has entered personal information can remove it at any time by clearing the extension’s local data or uninstalling the extension.
User-entered information stored by Like Talk remains in Chrome extension local storage. Users should avoid entering passwords, authentication tokens, API keys, financial information, health information, or confidential company information unless it is necessary for their own local drafting workflow.
If Like Talk’s data handling changes, this privacy policy and the Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated before the changed behavior is released.

XBOSoft will respond to verifiable requests within 45 days (extendable by an additional 45 days where reasonably necessary, with notice to you) for CCPA/CPRA requests, and within one month (extendable up to a further two months for complex requests, with notice to you) for GDPR and UK GDPR requests.
